The Get Real
Game program enables students to:
Build and maintain a positive self-image and interact effectively with
others.
Discover unique personal skills and talents to consider when choosing
life/work roles.
Relate educational achievement and extracurricular interests to future
life/work opportunities.
Effectively locate, interpret, evaluate and use career and labor market
information, resources and services.
Engage in a range of teamwork, problem solving, decision-making and
communication scenarios.
Explore a range of transition gateways that lead from secondary school to
diverse work, learning and community roles.
Explore the issue of balance between work and other life roles.
Learn to view change as an opportunity for growth and learning, and respond
positively to uncertainty and chance events.
Practice job search and work creation skills, as well as personal marketing,
interviewing, and time management.
Experiment with choices regarding school and other aspects of their lives and
identify optional routes to the kinds of future they want.
Begin development of a personal transition plan and initiate a personal
lifelong career building process.
